Tania Chia was born and raised in Singapore.
She came to the US in 1991 and sought educational asylum at Brown University.

Her studies include a BA in Semiotics at Brown, a BFA at Rhode Island School of Design, a MA Ed at Stanford University and MA in Santa Clara University. In her previous lives, she was UI/UX designer. She survived corporate and graduate school by sketching her bosses and professors.

Her relationship with art /painting has evolved from learning to draw from her architect father, sitting in art competitions at age 5, surviving Art School and now having alcohol painting and watercolor be part of her self-care.
When she is not painting or writing, she is a licensed trauma therapist.
